Inner & Central Atoll Surf Charters

Cruise through Meemu and Laamu Atolls. Surf all the breaks, go fishing and snorkelling on isolated reefs, visit resorts and explore village islands.

(For trips on a traditional Maldivian-style boat, check out surf and cultural cruises on the Dhoni Stella.)

Inner & Central Atolls Surfing

Many surfers enjoy the feeling of freedom on a live-aboard boat surfari. In North Male Atoll, waves like Chickens and Colas are some distance from the holiday resorts, enabling boat-based surfers to be there before the resort boats arrive, and stay there surfing until late afternoon.

In the evening your boat can stop at a resort, letting you enjoy drinks at a bar, a disco night or a cultural show. Surfari trips are great for fishing too, and your catch can be cooked fresh for dinner.

South Male' Atoll is about 3 hours cruising from the resorts of North Male' Atoll. The surf breaks are usually smaller, but are less visited and a good alternative when the swell is up.

Some 6 hours further south by boat, Meemu Atoll is well away from the main tourist areas and features several breaks as good as those in North Male Atoll, but much less crowded. Longer charters can extend to Laamu Atoll, even further south.

Surfari Boats

Our Inner & Central surfaris use one of three comfortable motor cruisers. Click the links for details and pictures.

Horizon II is a modern cruising vessel with six comfortable, air-con cabins.

Theia (left), a 100', luxury liveaboard that takes up to 18 guests in style and comfort.

Horizon III (right) is a brand new boat with eleven cabins, all air-conditioned with private bathroom, shower and WC.

The Trips

Inner Atoll Surfari charters are arranged on a group charter basis only, for 8 to 22 passengers (depending on the boat). Guests are met on arrival at the Maldives international airport and taken to the boat, which will be fully stocked and equipped for the holiday trip. Then the group is free to make its own itinerary in conjunction with the skipper and surf guide, deciding where to go and which breaks to surf every day.
