Outer Atoll Surfaris
For the serious surfing adventurer, Outer Atolls Surfaris explore
the truly isolated southern atolls. Horizon II is a fully equipped, live-aboard
motor cruiser featuring comfort and reliability without the luxury price tag. |

Outer Atolls Surfing
|
 |
The breaks in the southern atolls
work on a wider range of swell and wind conditions than those of
the Inner Atolls so an experienced Outer Atoll guide is essential.
We were the first company to operate Outer
Atolls surf tours in the region and our well trained Surf Guides
have a vast knowledge of the surf breaks and conditions.
This is a remote region, and our well established
emergency procedures have proved to be of vital importance on a few occasions when serious medical problems have ocurred. |
|
 |
There are about a dozen breaks in the region, including
Beacons (Right), Castaways (Right), Five Islands (Right), Love Charms
(Left), Tigers (Left), Bluebowls (Right) and Two Ways (Left & Right).

Outer Atoll Surfari Boat - Horizon II
|
 |
In 2010, our Outer Atoll Surfari holidays will be on Horizon II, a modern cruising vessel built in 2002, refurbished and very well maintained. The six comfortable cabins all have air-con, fan and en-suite bathroom. Facilities include
a fully stocked bar/saloon area with TV, DVD and Hi-Fi entertainment system.
Meals are good and plentiful, with a variety of European, Asian and seafood dishes served in the saloon or on the shaded fore-deck dining table. This is one of the least expensive boats in the Maldives, and is exceptional value for money.
|
 |
 |
Horizon II has a dinghy/ zodiac, and is accompanied
by a support dhoni - a traditional Maldivian boat ideally suited to
shallow lagoons. The dhoni improves access to waves and anchorages
and allows the group to split between breaks. And the main boat can be in
a safe anchorage while the support dhoni allows extra dawn and evening
surf sessions.
The Captain of Horizon II is one of the most experienced skippers in the region - he really knows the local communities, the islands, reefs, breaks and surf conditions.
|
 |
 |
You can snorkel on unspoilt reefs, catch a fish for dinner, and see parts of the country that most tourists never experience.
Boats have all the necessary safety and comunications equipment including
Marine Radar, VHF, Radio Telephone, mobile phone (most areas), GPS,
desalination plant, generators, and a trained and experienced crew. |
 |
|
 |
A surfari trip typically takes a maximum of
ten surfers. Guests arrive in Male', the Maldives' capital, and are
transferred by local flight to the outer atolls where Horizon II is based for the surfing season.
Guests then spend ten or eleven days cruising the atolls and surfing
the best available waves. On the last day of their holiday, guests fly back from
the southern atolls to Male' airport for their flight home.
The package price includes inter-atoll flights, eleven nights on
board, all meals, 1.5 litre bottled water per day, surf guide and all taxes. |
