Aganoa Beach Retreat offers traditional Samoan-style falé accommodation in a perfect beachside location - ideal for family holidays, romantic getaways and as a base for island adventures. For surfers, there two breaks within paddling distance, and more can be reached with Savaii Surfaris, our in-house surf operation.
|
|
Note: Aganoa Beach Retreat had only minor damage in the September 2009 tsunami and visitors to Samoa are now especially welcome. |

Accommodation & Activities
|
 |
Aganoa Beach Retreat falé packages are ideal for couples, families or small groups
of surfers who want to experience a real Samoan
style holiday rather than a generic resort.
The cultural experience of Samoan life, and the friendliness of the
staff make Aganoa Beach Retreat very popular with
visitors of all ages. |
 |
 |
Accommodation at Aganoa Beach Retreat is in traditional palm-thatched beach
falés. All falés
feature comfortable beds, mosquito nets, electricity and convenient
access to a central amenities block with hot showers. The beachside
restaurant and bar overlooks the lagoon with views of the surf and
coast - a great place for a tropical breakfast or a sunset drink.
Breakfast includes cereal, toast and tropical fruits, while dinners
feature fresh seafood, regular BBQ nights and traditional Samoan roast. |
 |
 |
The snorkelling here is excellent, with coral gardens and abundant
tropical fish. Other activities include island tours to see the spectacular
blowholes. You can also visit the local 'tapa' makers, who produce
an unusual paper-like cloth from tree bark - a perfect souvenir of
your Samoa holiday. Fishing trips are available for an extra charge. |
 |
 |
Aganoa is very secluded, right on the beach, on the
edge of the rainforest and conservation reserve. Savaii's scenic attractions,
like the Tafua Crater and Olemoe Waterfall, are a short distance away,
as is Salelologa, the main town and ferry terminal. |

Savaii Surfing
|
 |
If you've come for the surfing, Samoa's most consistent waves, Aganoa Right and Aganoa
Left, are within paddling distance of the beach.
Savaii has a variety of other breaks on its north and south coasts. The quality of the waves depends greatly on swell direction, and swells can come in from all points of the compass (see Savaii Surf). |
|
 |
Savaii Surfaris has years of experience tracking Pacific weather systems and assessing swell conditions. When conditions are right, two 12-seater vans and a 15-foot fibreglass runabout get surfers to the best waves available.
Local staff and selected Australian
surf guides assist in the operation. With their dedication and
knowledge, Savaii Surfaris provide the finest service
available to surfers visiting Samoa. |
