The islands of Nias and the Mentawai region catch the regular and powerful Indian Ocean swells. Consistent, high quality waves peel off dozens of reefs dotted throughout the region, only reachable by live-aboard boats
For surf trips, Saranya is equipped with a 5-metre speedboat to check out breaks quickly and get surfers to reefs in shallow water.

Atoll Travel clients are met personally at Padang Airport and a private van takes them directly to the boat. Talk with the skipper about your surfing abilities and the the sort of waves you want to surf, and he will plan the best itinerary for your needs and the prevailing conditions. Most groups start with some sessions in the nearby breaks of the Mentawai islands, then move out to more remote areas, taking advantage of the skipper’s extensive knowledge of swells, tides and winds.


At the end of the trip, clients are transferred directly from the boat to the airport, or to on-shore accommodation if they want to do more traveling or sightseeing around Padang. Atoll Travel packages include airfares via Jakarta with Singapore Airlines or Garuda, all transfers, 11 nights accommodation on board, all meals, snorkeling and fishing gear.
About MV Saranya «
This 17-metre steel-hulled vessel has been custom built for long range surfing trips and cruises. It accommodates eight guests in air-conditioned comfort, and features lots of deck space, fully equipped galley with quality cuisine, entertainment systems and facilities to video and view each day’s surf adventures.

Chef Kasta is an excellent chef who has worked on the boat for a number of years - his Asian and European dishes include plenty of fresh seafood and vegetables. Three beers per day are included, along with soft drinks, bottled water and snacks. Additional beers, wines and some cocktails can be purchased on board at reasonable prices.
Two 320 HP Hino diesel engines give MV Saranya a 10-knot cruising speed and a top speed of 14 knots. Other equipment includes two genereators, 1400 litre water storage, desalinator, fishing and snorkelling equipment, satellite phone, satellite-based internet and email access.
