Outer Atolls Surf
The breaks in the southern atolls work on a wider range of swell and wind conditions than those of the Inner Atolls so an experienced Outer Atoll guide is essential.
There are about a dozen breaks in the region, including Beacons (Right), Castaways (Right), Five Islands (Right), Love Charms (Left), Tigers (Left), Bluebowls (Right) and Two Ways (Left & Right). (Click here for more information about Maldives Surf.)
For safety and reliability, it's essential that a tour to the Outer Atolls be well organised by an operator that has experience in the region and uses well trained Surf Guides with full knowledge of the region's surf spots and conditions. Atoll Adventures provides all of this and has established emergency procedures that have proved to be of vital importance in medical emergencies.
MV Manaal«
For Outer Atoll Surfaris, Atoll Adventures uses Manaal, a modern vessel with comfortable saloon/dining area, fully stocked bar and spacious sun decks. This is surfing in style! You can also snorkel on unspoilt reefs and catch a fish for dinner, and see parts of the country that most tourists never experience.
Our boats go to some of the most secluded anchorages in the region. As well as the main boat, there's a dinghy and a support dhoni (the dhoni is the traditional Maldivian boat design, ideally suited for use in shallow lagoons). The support dhoni improves access to the waves and anchorages at all tides, and allows for splitting the group between breaks - sometimes two or three surfers have a break all to themselves. Dawn and evening surf time is increased as the main boat can be in a safe anchorage while the support dhoni is used for dawn and evening sessions.


The Trips «
A surfari trip on Manaal takes a max of 12 surfers. Guests arrive in Male', the Maldives' capital, and are transferred by local flight to the outer atolls where our boats are based for the surfing season.
Guests then spend ten or eleven days cruising the atoll and surfing the best available waves. On the last day you fly from the southern atolls back to Male' airport for your flight home.
This southern atoll region is well away from the established tourism zone and has no tourist resort facilities. Atoll Adventures was the first company to operate Outer Atolls surf tours and since 1995 has continually refined their trips to provide the most reliable, safest and best value tour options available.

The package price includes inter-atoll flights, eleven nights on board, all meals, bottled water, surf guide and government taxes.
