About Savaii Surfaris
Australian
Keith Martin is a stylish goofy-footer who has devoted a considerable
amount of his life to the pursuit of surfing the world's most perfect
left-hand barrels.
 |
Since the early 1970s he was involved in the pioneering
days of breaks such as G-land, Tamarin Bay, St Leu & Cloudbreak. After
more than 25 years living and surfing throughout the South Pacific and
Indian Ocean islands, he visited Samoa and the little developed island
of Savaii. |
He eventually settled on the island with his Savaiian wife Lanu, and they established Savaii Surfaris in 1997. Keith and Lanu now live with their three young children at Aganoa Beach.
 |
A genuine waterman, Keith's knowledge of the surf breaks and conditions on Savaii is comprehensive. With daily updates of satellite charts and Internet WAM maps he knows exactly what's happening. Savaii Surfaris is the only Government licensed water sports tour operator on Savaii and through ongoing consultation with the regional village "Tuua" operates with the utmost respect for the local laws, culture and traditions. |
|
As part of Savaii Surfaris' commitment to the people of Savaii and to ensure surfing makes a positive contribution Savaii Surfaris contributes on behalf of each of their surfing guests to the Savaii Education Fund. This fund directly benefits the village schools from surfers using traditional village areas to access the waves.
|
Apart from getting some waves and maybe catching the fish of your life, Savaii Surfaris will introduce you to the culture of Samoa, a true Polynesian culture preserved in its age-old traditions even in the 21st century.
