Aganoa Lodge Samoa offers traditional Samoan-style falé accommodation across 8 stand-alone fales all in perfect beach side locations – ideal for couples, families or small groups of surfers who want to experience a real Samoan style holiday rather than a generic resort.
The cultural experience of Samoan life, and the friendliness of the staff make Aganoa Lodge Samoa very popular with visitors of all ages.
For surfers, two of Samoa’s most consistent breaks, Aganoa Right and Aganoa Left, are within paddling distance of the beach with another 10 breaks a short drive or boat ride away – see Savaii Surfing. Surf transfers are all-inclusive and conducted twice daily.
Accommodation at Aganoa Lodge Samoa is designed to immerse you in Savai’i’s pristine natural environment. The goal is to transport you to another time and place. A world of open air and open spaces, of falling asleep to the soft patter of rain on a tin roof or waking to the kiss of a light trade-wind breeze sliding off of the ocean. At Aganoa Lodge Samoa they invite you to unplug from your busy, overbuilt world and experience something perfect. Perfect and simple.
“Rooms” are simple. Eight stand-alone, open-air fales (bungalows) each surrounded by its own privacy screen give guests their own perfect carved out piece of paradise. Each unit in constructed almost entirely of reclaimed timber and lava rocks collected on-site, and each features a king or queen sized, four poster mosquito-netted bed, en suite bathroom with open-sky shower (with Molton Brown amenities), power outlets, safes and private veranda decks for relaxing or watching the surf (literally steps from the lagoon beach).
The beachside restaurant and bar overlooks the lagoon with views of the surf and coast – a great place for a tropical breakfast or a sunset drink.
Meals are all-inclusive – with the exception of select beverages – at Aganoa Lodge Samoa and have been designed to emphasise fresh, healthy, super-food/performance-enhancing nourishment to maintain peak energy levels during the day. Aganoa Lodge Samoa offers a delicious and authentic set-menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the oceanfront restaurant. Locally sourced and sustainable ingredients anchor a menu of Samoan delicacies blended with Western cuisine. Stars are fresh fish caught daily right offshore and organic fruits and vegies grown either in our on-site organic hydroponic facility or in the gardens of nearby villages. The bar of course is stocked with ice-cold beverages, local beers, New Zealand wines, spirits and bottled water.
The snorkelling here is excellent, with coral gardens and abundant tropical fish. Other activities include island tours to see the spectacular blowholes. You can also visit the local ‘tapa’ makers, who produce an unusual paper-like cloth from tree bark – a perfect souvenir of your Samoa holiday. Fishing tours are also available with complimentary gear and guided tours available.
Aganoa is very secluded, right on the beach, on the edge of the rainforest and conservation reserve. Savaii’s scenic attractions, like the Tafua Crater and Olemoe Waterfall, are a short distance away, as is Salelologa, the main town and ferry terminal.
An Aganoa Lodge Samoa 7 day tour package (Saturdays to Fridays) is all inclusive and includes airport transfers; arrival and/or departure night accommodation on the main island of Upolu if necessary to suit flights; ferry transfers to/from Savaii; and accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner at Aganoa Lodge Samoa, surf transfers, activity transfers, complimentary wi-fi on the house computer, full use of house equipment (SUPs, snorkel gear, fishing equipment, bikes).
Arrival flights at Faleolo International Airport, on Upolu island, vary in schedule. A representative from Aganoa Lodge Samoa meets arriving guests and transfers them to the ferry or to nearby accommodation for late night arrivals. Most guests choose to stay at the Airport Lodge, which is close to the wharf; alternatively at the Sheraton Aggie Grey’s, 5 minutes away.
In the morning, guests are picked up from their accommodation for the trip to Mulifanua Wharf and an 60-minute ferry ride to Savaii island. On Savaii, you’ll be met by more staff from Aganoa Lodge Samoa, and transferred 15-minutes to Aganoa Lodge Samoa.
When conditions are favourable, surf transfers to other breaks around the island will happen twice daily, as well as non-surfing activity transfers for non-surfers or those wanting to take a break.
On the final day of their holiday, guests take the afternoon ferry back to the main island of Upolu where the Aganoa Lodge Samoa representative will again arrange for transfers to accommodation in Apia or at the Airport Lodge, Sheraton Aggie Greys, and assist with transfers to the airport for check-in.
You’ll leave with memories of a fascinating island and its people; of pleasant company , new friends, cold Vailima beers, fish steaks and perfect sunsets.
